Nicholas Winton House

Nicholas Winton House is a care home at 147 Lent Rise Road in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. It has 30 rooms, each individually furnished and decorated, all with en-suite facilities. Bedrooms are set over two floors, reached by a lift and two staircases, and residents can bring their own furniture, photographs and ornaments to make a room their own. Inside there are two communal areas and two dining rooms, with Wi-Fi and superfast broadband throughout the building. French doors open onto a grassy, flower-filled courtyard with benches, one of two sun-catching outdoor spaces. Food is cooked and baked fresh each day, with a choice of two mains and two desserts at lunch and a fortnightly rolling menu of 28 lunches and 28 dinners. Residents can eat in either dining room or in their own room, and snacks and hot drinks are brought to every room three times a day. An activities coordinator runs the programme, which ranges from art classes and gardening to quizzes, karaoke, Zumba, pet therapy and IT sessions, and the home has links with nearby schools, nurseries and local charities. A hairdresser visits weekly and a chiropodist every six weeks. Visitors are welcome during normal working hours.
